Color Vision Test

Privacy Policy

The short version: the test runs inside your browser, your answers are never sent to us, and we do not ask for your name or email.

Who We Are

This site provides a free online color blind test, a color blindness simulator and reference pages about color vision deficiency. It is operated by an independent publisher and is not a medical practice. You can reach us through the contact page.

What Happens to Your Test Answers

Nothing leaves your device. The Ishihara plates are generated in your browser using JavaScript, your answers are held in memory on the page, and the result is calculated there as well. No answer, score or result is transmitted to any server, and none is stored by us.

If you choose to copy a result link, your answers are encoded into the web address itself. That link contains your result, so treat it the way you would treat any personal note: share it only with people you intend to see it. Opening a link like that does not send anything to us either, because the page decodes it locally.

Images You Load Into the Simulator

The color blindness simulator reads the image you select directly from your device and redraws it on a canvas inside the page. There is no upload step and no copy of your image on any server. Closing or refreshing the page discards it.

Information We Collect Automatically

Like almost every website, our hosting provider records standard server request data. This can include your IP address, browser type and version, device type, the pages you request, the referring page and the time of the request. This information is used to keep the site running, to diagnose faults and to understand which pages are useful. We do not use it to build a profile of you.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

The site itself sets no tracking cookies, and it does not use browser storage to remember you between visits.

Third parties that serve advertising or measure traffic on this site may set their own cookies or read device identifiers. Those are described in the next two sections.

Advertising

This site may display advertising supplied by Google, including through Google AdSense.

Analytics

We may use a privacy conscious analytics service to count page views and understand which content is worth expanding. Any such service is configured to measure traffic in aggregate. We do not sell analytics data, and we do not combine it with any other source to identify you.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Color vision screening is often carried out on behalf of a child by a parent or teacher, which requires no account and no personal details of any kind.

Health Information

A color vision screening result is sensitive. That is precisely why the result is produced and kept on your own device rather than on ours. We never receive it, so we cannot disclose it, lose it or be compelled to hand it over.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete personal information a website holds about you, and to object to certain processing. Because we do not hold accounts, answers or results, there is usually nothing on our side to act on. For server logs or advertising data, write to us through the contact page and we will help where we are able, including pointing you to the relevant third party controls.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, our lawful basis for processing server log data is legitimate interest in operating and securing the site. Advertising cookies, where used, rely on consent.

External Links

Some pages link to other websites, such as eye care organisations or reference material. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes in a way that affects you, the date at the top of this page will be updated. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised policy.
